Mr. Magee is an attorney and an ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) professional negotiator, mediator, and arbitrator, with unique training and experience in both aviation and aerospace industries, regulatory structures and practices. His areas of specialized practice include administrative law (particularly FAA regulatory, compliance, enforcement and related matters), contracts and commercial agreements, including aircraft sales agreements, and torts (typically aircraft-related). Enforcement experience covers the gamut, dealing with all forms of transportation and aircraft, including full-scale, drones, RPAs and UAVs.
Mr. Magee’s litigation and ADR experience go beyond aviation and aerospace matters. Additional areas of law include bankruptcy, banking, construction, insurance, premises liability, professional and products liability and all aspects of commercial and residential real estate development.
Mr. Magee received an undergraduate degree in Aeronautical Administration from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and holds a Maintenance Certificate from the Spartan College of Aeronautics. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa College of Law. He is a Senior Certified Aircraft Appraiser / USPAP qualified, by the National Aircraft Appraisers Association, holds various FAA ratings. including Airline Transport Pilot, Instrument Flight Instructor and Mechanic’s certificates with airframe and powerplant ratings.
Mr. Magee is also a graduate of Pepperdine University School of Law’s Straus Institute of Dispute Resolution, having received his LL.M. in Alternative Dispute Resolution, with an emphasis in International Commercial Arbitration. The Straus Institute is consistently rated as a leading dispute resolution program both nationally and internationally. He is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and its Alternative Dispute Resolution, Insurance and litigation sections, and serves as a Chair of the ADR Section for 2018 following service as Vice-chair in 2017. He has served on various state and local bar committees including the Tulsa County Bar Association’s Fee Arbitration Committee. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, and serves on their respective Alternate Dispute Resolution and Aviation sections and committees. He is as an adjunct settlement judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma and Early Settlement program for the State of Oklahoma. He is also a longstanding approved Legal Panel member of the Aircraft Owner and Pilots Association.
Unique to Mr. Magee’s experience are his ratings and certifications in numerous jet warbird and experimental aircraft, both jet and prop. Mr. Magee is one of a select few pilots to have been awarded a jet racing Letter of Authorization certifying him as a qualified pilot in the Jet Class of the National Championship Reno Air Races. Mr. Magee has participated in the National Championship Reno Air Races since 1991 in the biplane and jet classes.
